Far Infrared Sauna

Far infrared (FIR) rays are naturally occuring, and healing to the body. The rays have longer wavelengths than the visible spectrum. We can’t see them, yet they can be felt. Since FIR compose 50% of the sun’s rays, the warmth felt while in the FIR sauna is like you were sitting in the sun. FIR rays have a vibration that is close to that of human cells, and so produces a “resonant” effect. Much of the healing is due to this resonance, which is what allows the 90% of the rays to enter the body to a depth of 1.5 inches.

How does it work?

The skin is the most important “exit door” of the body. Sweating has preceded our modern science as a way to purify our body, mind and spirit. It was used regularly by the native tribes, nature-cure hydrotherapy physicians, and now at last science accepts sweating as a form of healing. Groups of survivors from Chernobyl radiation disaster, and from the 911 catastrophe, have recovered their health using sauna’s.

The heat produced in the FIR sauna is lower temperature (130-140F) than traditional saunas (180-230F), so is more comfortable to the body. The rays penetrate into the body and warm the body which then begins to induce sweating. The benefits of FIR sauna are not only from the sweating, but from the FIR rays penetrating the body and stimulating cellular metabolism and renewal. These benefits affect every part of health and the proper functioning of the body.

Is detoxification recommended?

Our world is burdened with toxins. The CDC found more than 100 toxic chemicals in blood and urine samples. Our physicians can help determine if you need detoxification. Detoxification may include a colon cleanse, a liver cleanse, a detox diet, or FIR sauna therapy. We can also develop a cleansing program for your unique body and lifestyle, as well as help determine the sources of your toxic exposure.

What’s involved in a sauna treatment?

Your treatment will begin in one of the spa rooms, where the medical assistant will teach you how to use the FIR sauna. This sauna model allows you to have your head out in the open and body warmed by the FIR rays. During the sauna time, you are breathing room temperature air, listening to relaxing music. Sweating begins after 5-10 minutes for most. Your body will soon be relaxed, and dripping with sweat. After 30 minutes, your treatment is finished with a cool towel rinse.

When will I start to feel better?

Most will feel the positive effects of the relaxing detox immediately. Some conditions will take many sessions to completely resolve. Chemically sensitive patients begin very slowly and soon can use the sauna 30 minutes per day and can fully recover in a few short months. Each person has a unique health picture and Dr. Wells will determine the right plan for you to recover as quickly as possible.
